Battle of the Boy Bands: Vivid Seats Data Shows the Most Popular Boy Bands in America

July 14, 2022 by Peyton St. James

The melodies change along with the clothing, hairstyles and listening devices, but certain elements of boy bands remain timeless.

Boy bands of all ages share a penchant for eye-popping synchronized dancing, trend-setting fashion and rabid fan bases.

And Americans are united by a cross-generational love of these groups.

In celebration of America’s love of boy bands, Vivid Seats used concert and ticket data from the past 10 years to explore some of America’s favorite boy bands of all time, from the nostalgic NKOTB, Hanson and Boyz II Men to the latest K-pop obsessions like BTS and Stray Kids

Browse all of the data we found, through our interactive graphics below:

Of all the hottest boy bands in recent years, no group has commanded higher ticket prices (or a more committed fandom) than BTS. K-pop dominates the most in-demand boy bands of the past decade, led by these five star-studded groups:

  1. BTS - $330 average price, sold ticket
  2. Stray Kids - $279
  3. TxT - $261
  4. NCT 127 - $237
  5. Got7 - $229

While the popularity of K-pop boy bands in the United States is undeniable, the Backstreet Boys and Jonas Brothers are two foundational boy band acts that continue to excel at entertaining fans across the country. The boy bands that have dominated the annual concert battle, dancing in formation across the most stages in the United States are:

  • 2022 – Backstreet Boys
  • 2021 – Jonas Brothers
  • 2020 – Seventeen
  • 2019 – Jonas Brothers
  • 2018 – BTS

BTS enjoyed unparalleled success in 2018 thanks to their record-breaking Love Yourself World Tour. Nearly two years after the group’s Map of the Soul Tour was canceled due to the pandemic, BTS performed just four concerts at SoFi Stadium and Allegiant Stadium in 2021 and 2022, which allowed predecessors like the Jonas Brothers and Backstreet Boys to win the annual concert battle.

Notably, Seventeen dominated the stage in 2020 because their Ode to You World Tour started in February 2020 right before the pandemic.

Which state is home to the most boy band stans? Boy bands are popular with music fans across the country, but nowhere are their fans more prominent than on the coasts, with California and New Jersey representing the top two states for boy bands, according to the population of each state to the number of boy bands that perform there each year.

For those looking to jam out to the pop tunes of today’s biggest boy bands, the top five states for boy band music lovers are:

  1. California
  2. New Jersey
  3. Massachusetts
  4. Utah
  5. Nevada
