Father's Day Gift Guide: Tickets for Every Type of Dad

June 14, 2024 by Vivid Seats

Father’s Day 2024 is almost here.

This year, take Father’s Day to the next level and swap your usual go-to gifts with tickets to a live event. After all, Father’s Day lands in June, the ideal time to plan a family outing to the ballpark. Just know that if you go to the game with dad, he is twice as likely to bribe you to root for his favorite sports team than mom (10% vs. 5%), according to a new national survey* commissioned by Vivid Seats and conducted by global market research firm The Harris Poll.

Whether you’re shopping for your dad, a close friend who just became a dad, or a father figure in your life, we’ve rounded up the best Father’s Day gifts that suit different personalities and interests.

The Rockstar Dad

Planning an outing with your dad to see his favorite band or artist might just get you out of summer school for the day. Over 1 in 5 fathers with kids under 18 (22%) would let their child play hooky from school to attend a concert with them. Grab a pair of tickets to see iconic rock artists like Green Day or Billy Joel and jam out with a stadium full of fans (and your dad too).

The Dad Who Loves Football

Do you and your dad root for rival NFL teams? If you answered yes, it’s likely that your dad is among the 9% of sports fan fathers (i.e. those with a favorite sports team with kids under 18) who feel heartbroken because their child rooted against their favorite team. Cure your father’s broken heart by grabbing tickets to watch his favorite NFL team with him from the sidelines.

The Dad Joke Dad

As embarrassing as it may be sometimes, there’s nothing quite like a terribly good dad joke. If the father figure in your life is known for his cheesy, cringe-worthy humor, get him tickets to see fellow dad Jim Gaffigan live for Father’s Day.

The Ballpark Dad

Tell dad to grab his baseball hat and crackerjacks and send him off to see his favorite MLB team this Father’s Day. While most sports fan dads (92%) with kids under the age of 18 would not ditch their families on Father’s Day to catch their favorite team play, almost 1 in 10 (8%) of those dads still would.

The History Buff Dad

If your dad happens to be a Broadway fan in addition to a history buff, then gift him a life experience he’ll remember for years to come with Hamilton tickets. This Broadway musical is on tour now, so there’s a good chance you can see the show together at a theater near you.

The Dad Who Has Everything

Finding a good Father’s Day gift for the father figure in your life can be difficult, especially when he claims that he already has everything—or that he wants nothing. Give him a Vivid Seats gift card, so he can buy tickets to a concert, game or show of his choice whenever he’d like.

*This survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Vivid Seats from June 6-10, 2024, among 2,093 adults ages 18 and older, of whom 1,151 are parents, and among whom 505 are fathers. The sampling precision of Harris online polls is measured by using a Bayesian credible interval. For this study, the sample data is accurate to within +/- 2.5 percentage points using a 95% confidence level.
