February 19, 2025 by Vivid Seats

With San Diego FC debuting as the league’s 30th team ahead of MLS’ milestone 30th season—and the 2026 World Cup on the horizon—there’s never been a more exciting time to be a soccer fan in the United States.

As the 2025 MLS season begins, Vivid Seats has analyzed ticket sales data to reveal the most popular MLS team in each county across the U.S. Explore the interactive map below to see which club your county supports.

Messi Mania Continues

Lionel Messi’s arrival in MLS has had a transformative impact on the league, driving record-breaking ticket sales, skyrocketing viewership, and boosting global interest in American soccer.

His presence at Inter Miami has not only elevated the team’s status but also expanded its fan base across the country. In Florida alone, Inter Miami has gained support in three additional counties year over year. And, according to average sold price, the five most in-demand regular season MLS tickets all feature Inter Miami.

Lone Star Soccer Fanbases

Since Austin FC made their debut at Q2 Stadium in 2021, the soccer-loving city has fully embraced the club as their own. As Austin’s only major professional sports franchise, the club has built a strong following, claiming fan dominance in 34 counties across the region.

However, competition is fierce in the Lone Star State. FC Dallas stands out as the seventh most popular MLS team nationwide and holds the top spot in 75 Texas counties. Meanwhile, the Houston Dynamo, located about 240 miles away, lead in 43 counties, further fueling the state’s dynamic soccer landscape.

California’s MLS Rivalries Heat Up

California is home to some of the fiercest rivalries in MLS, with four teams now battling for both regional dominance and fan loyalty. El Tráfico, the heated clash between LA Galaxy and LAFC, remains one of the league’s marquee matchups. Meanwhile, the California Clásico between San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy is one of the league’s longest-standing rivalries, dating back to MLS’ early years.

When it comes to fan popularity across the state, the San Jose Earthquakes lead the way, holding the top spot in 32 counties, followed by the LA Galaxy with 15 counties. LAFC, despite their strong presence in Los Angeles, is the favorite in just two counties, while the newly introduced San Diego FC has yet to claim a county of its own.

Ohio’s MLS Loyalty: Columbus Crew vs. FC Cincinnati

After securing the 2023 MLS Cup, the Columbus Crew continues to reign supreme in Ohio, with fans across 77 counties pledging their loyalty to the team. Meanwhile, FC Cincinnati has maintained a stronghold over 11 counties in Southwest Ohio, especially along the Indiana-Kentucky border.

While other states cheer for multiple MLS teams, Ohio stands out as one of the only states where fans show unwavering loyalty to their home-state clubs.
