May 16, 2016 by Alyssa

August Wilson Theatre Seating Chart

Located on 52nd Street, the August Wilson Theatre is one of the most iconic Broadway venues open today. The theater has hosted many great performances since it originally opened in 1925, but the most notable production in recent years has been Mean Girls, which made its debut here in 2017.

If you’re ready to jump to a full August Wilson Theatre events schedule, you can do so now. Keep reading this post for a more detailed overview of the theater’s seating chart.

August Wilson Theatre Seating Chart

There are only two main levels available in the August Wilson Theatre seating chart. The first is the Orchestra, which takes up the entire Lower Level of the theater. Above that is the Mezzanine, an elevated level that’s laid out like a balcony. In all, these two levels hold roughly 1,200 seats for theatergoers.

August Wilson Theatre Seating Views

Whether you’re in the front row or the last row, there are great seats available across the entire August Wilson Theatre. That being said, your view of the stage will vary greatly from section to section. Below we’ve pulled fan photos from previous performances at the theater so you can have an idea of what the stage looks like from different seats in different sections.

August Wilson Theatre Orchestra Seating Views

If you’re sitting in the first few rows of the Orchestra Level, you’ll be right on top of the action on stage. You should note that some of the very close seats may have a limited view of the action taking place on the rear half of the stage.

The best seats in the theater are those located in the more central rows of the Orchestra Level. You can see what an impact sitting farther back in the Orchestra will have on your view of the full stage when you compare the photo below with the photo above.

August Wilson Theatre Mezzanine Seating Views

From the front rows of the Mezzanine Level, you’ll have a really clear view of the stage and performance. If you prefer to look down on the stage where the performance takes place, these seats are going to be the best choice for your group.

Even farther back in the Mezzanine Level, the seats have a good view of the stage. These seats are, again, farther back from the stage than those in the Orchestra or front rows of the Mezzanine, but you can still see everything taking place in the performance.
