Adele Covers
We’re just weeks away from the North American launch of Adele’s highly anticipated 25 Tour, during which fans can expect to hear a variety of tracks from the singer’s award-winning catalog at venues substantially larger than her 2008 debut venture.
Though boasting one of the industry’s most incomparable voices, Adele songs like “Hello” and “Someone Like You” continue to be amongst the most popular for other artists to cover.
Before you head out to hear the real thing, check out seven Adele cover songs that offer a unique take on one of music’s finest talents.
1. “Right As Rain” – Covered by Jonathan Groff
“Glee” veteran and original King George III in the Tony-winning masterpiece, “Hamilton,” Jonathan Groff was just 25 when he hit the stage at Joe’s Pub in New York City to perform his take of the rarely covered “Right As Rain.”
2. “Rolling in the Deep” – Covered by Vance Joy
For the most covered of Adele’s songs, we turned to Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy who maintains his own distinct sound to deliver this delightfully unique version of “Rolling in the Deep.”
3. “Someone Like You” – Covered by Ice Nine Kills
And for an even more unique Adele cover song, Ice Nine Kills pretty much takes the cake for the emotionally charged “Someone Like You.”
4. “Rumour Has It” – Covered by Gavin DeGraw
Gavin DeGraw’s expert mashup of “Rumour Has It” along with his own “Every Little Bit” makes for one of the most enjoyable covers of the popular Adele anthem.
5. “Skyfall” – Covered by Our Last Night
In a similar vein as Ice Nine Kills’ previously mentioned cover of “Someone Like You,” Our Last Night puts its own spin on the award-winning “Skyfall.”
6. “Chasing Pavements” – Covered by Mat Kearney
Perhaps surprisingly, one of Adele’s earliest hits, “Chasing Pavements,” is not one her peers have been known to tackle. According to data at setlist.fm, the song has only been covered seven times, all by Mat Kearney, who beautifully blends it with his track, “Girl America.”
7. “Set Fire to the Rain” – Covered by Mat Kearney
On the flip side, “Set Fire to the Rain” has emerged as one of the most popular Adele songs to cover, and we couldn’t resist featuring Mat Kearney once again rising to the occasion.
