Edmonton Oilers 02-07 Midseason Update

In July 2006, Chris Pronger was sent to Anaheim in exchange for Joffrey Lupul, Ladislav Smid, and Anaheim's first round draft pick in 2007, second in 2008, and a conditional first. Moreover, many of the Edmonton Oilers' signed for contracts elsewhere, such as Jaroslav Spacek, who went to play for the Buffalo Sabres, Sergei Samsonov went to Montreal, and Michael Peca signed with his hometown Toronto. Fan favorite Georges Laraque, went to the Phoenix Coyotes, and goaltender Ty Conklin inked a two-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Edmonton also lost Radek Dvorak to free agency as the St. Louis signed him shortly after. In August, forward Petr Sykora and the Edmonton Oilers agreed on a one-year deal. A month later, Joffrey Lupul and the Oilers inked a three-year contract worth $6.935 million.
