Mark your calendar for this Oct. 11 Big Ten football clash between Penn State and Michigan. Set to get underway in primetime at historic Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, the conference rivals will meet at roughly the midpoint of the season in a game that could ultimately have an effect on final division standings. In conjunction with the arrival of Maryland and Rutgers, the Big Ten revamped its divisions yet again, with Michigan and Penn State paired up in the East along with the new schools, as well as Indiana, Michigan State, and Ohio State.
Michigan Stadium Seating Information
Generally, the Wolverines occupy the sideline near Sections 20-26, while visitors can be found on the opposite side of the field by Sections 1-4, 42-44. Unlike most major sports venues, Michigan Stadium is not separated by multiple levels, but rather, one main level of seating that extends out over many rows. With 44 sections in all, the seating expands all the way around the venue, with endzone seating is located in Sections 11-13 and 33-35. The student section of Michigan Stadium is located in the northwest corner comprised of Sections 26-31, and the stadium also usually offers suite level seating in Sections 401-432 and 501-536. The club section also boasts indoor and outdoor seating in sections 301-317.
Michigan Stadium General Information
For Penn State-Michigan football, items such as outside food and drink, umbrellas, all bags, flags, strollers, and coolers will not be permitted inside the stadium. Additionally, alcohol also is strictly prohibited inside Michigan Stadium. Meanwhile, permitted items generally include blankets, binoculars, foam seat pads and small seat cushions. All guests are subject to search upon entry into the venue on Oct. 11.
Michigan Stadium Parking Information
Michigan Stadium is surrounded by a number of parking lots for game days; though note that many of these will be permit only. Any other lots with availability will likely be cash only and payment will be required onsite. Tailgating is permitted though be sure to familiarize yourself with the university's policies.
Michigan Stadium Gate Times
Gates at Michigan Stadium usually open as early as two hours before the start of games, though this is subject to change ahead of Michigan vs Penn State on Oct. 11.
