Rain gives Yankees opportunity to reshuffle rotation

The New York Yankees will get enough time to plan their reshuffle for pitching rotation as Sunday’s game was postponed due to rain. The dates for the postponed games are not yet announced and the Yankees moved to Florida after the rainout. Andy Petite will play the first match in the series on Monday at St. Petersburg. Andy will be followed by Mike Mussina and Chien- Ming Wang. The Yankees are expecting Kei Igawa to make the start on Thursday and to use Darrel Rasner against Mets on Friday. But manager Joe Giardi said that the final decision will be taken only after the discussions.

Rasner said that he will continue with his bullpen session as usual on Tuesday and if he is not allowed to start on Thursday he will carry on with his bullpen session on that day also. According to Mussina, the possible dates for the postponed game in Detroit are July 24th and September 1st. Joe Giardi wants to consider all the possible dates which will be favorable for the team’s tight schedule and fix the game dates. Most probably the rained out match will be played on September 1st which is a more convenient date for Yankees.
