The Yankees are currently in an unenviable position of being in a second three game sweep as they take on the Indians. With losses mounting and with no runs being scored, the Yankees must have done a bit of introspection for Johnny Damon to come out and take the burden of winning the game onto him.
The last two games were anything but a blimp in the Yankees record with no runs being scored in the last game. That by itself must have made the Yankees realize that it is high time that they altered the strategy especially for their next game. As a result of this, the Yankees are thinking of fielding Mike Mussina, the right-hander against Paul Byrd. Let us not forget that it was Mussina who had managed five strikeouts through six innings of a single run ball. The Seattle series was a disaster for the Yankees and if they do not want the past repeating again, then yes, they need to rethink the strategy. The team may have some of its best pitchers and hitters currently injured, but they will have to do what that they currently have. The Yankees offense especially without Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada certainly lacks its bite, but that does not mean that the Yankees cannot perform. They can and it is time for the team to perform to their very optimum best of they want to avoid a repeat of the Seattle sweep over.
