The Detroit Tigers overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first inning Thursday night to complete their sweep of the injury ridden Yankees. With Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada on the DL, the Tigers were able to pull to one game under .500 with an impressive 8-4 victory. Bobby Abreu got the Yankees off to a quick start with his 4th homer run of the season in the 1st inning to put them up 3-0. Ian Kennedy continues to struggle, allowing 4 runs in the 4th. The Tigers bats could not be tamed as Magglio Ordonez and Miguel Cabrera combined for 5 RBI. Detroit starter Nate Robertson did not pitch great but the bullpen did, allowing only 3 scattered hits in 3 1/3 innings of work. The Tigers hadn’t swept the Yankees since 1966.
